4-H Youth Livestock Programs

The 4-H Animal Science Program offers Tennessee youth valuable educational opportunities through raising, exhibiting, and judging livestock and horses.  4-H Animal Science participants are challenged with real-life issues as they learn responsibility through raising, showing, and judging horses and livestock.

Roane County 4-H Horse Club-

Our 4-H Horse Club is continuing to grow and be successful. Our Horse Club is led by an outstanding volunteer, Janicia West. You do not need to have horses to be a part of our Horse Bowl and Hippology Teams or Horse Judging. You only need to have an interest in horses. We will begin the practice season preparing for Horse Bowl and Hippology Contests that will happen in January. Please join us if you are interested! When we finish with Horse Bowl/Hippology will begin preparing for Horse Judging.

Livestock Judging. During Livestock Judging, youth are learning how to evaluate cattle, sheep and pigs based on specific criteria. Our Livestock Judging Team(s) are led by Herman and Katie Radke. You do not have to have livestock animals to be on the judging team but in order to show livestock, you do need to have livestock. During our meetings, you will also learn how to select animals and prepare for show season. Come join us!
